Kick Off Meeting is a Success

We had a great turnout for the meeting at my house on the 13th. There was a lot of enthusiasm to get a chapter started here in the Anchorage area. Several folks picked up membership applications and we should be very close to having our ten folks needed to form an official chapter.

We all agreed that we wanted to get together again soon, hopefully before the end of the month. However, with Memorial weekend coming up the earliest I could meet with you is either Monday evening, June 5, or Friday/Saturday/Sunday June 9/10/11. Let me know your preferences.

Several activities were discussed including the following:

1) Entry in 4th of July parade
a. Checking into participating under the Alaskans for Peace & Justice entry
2) Working with Mayor Begich’s Military & Veterans commission.
C.W. Floyd 343-4641 A program advisory commission that provides liaison between the municipal government, active duty military and the veterans community. Meets 1st Monday each month, 12 noon
a.
3) Attending the Vets for Peace national meeting in Seattle in August
a. VFP National Convention.org/

We are off to a good start. I see getting together over the summer several times in order to figure out what we want this chapter to look like and what we want to focus our energies on. I look forward to getting together with you again soon.
